pinoy idol
i was there at the first day of the audition in metro manila. and it was packed with tooooooo many people. i hadn’t realized until today how popular and well-known this reality show is. people from all walks of life were there, aspiring to be The One.
each one had his own style on how to make the judges notice him. some were wearing formal attire [cocktail dress, polo, blouse, slacks]. some were sporting casual attire [jeans, shirt, everyday clothes]. still some others dared wear dress that only fit on stage performances like this one who wore an all white attire with palawit all around. watch out for her on the telecast of the show. she gladly took the camera’s attention. others were so emo with their smoky eyes, somber colors clothing and equally somber look on their faces. also one of the favorites are wearing boots. some tried to be admired by playing instruments like guitar. but mostly kept the performance plain and simple.
it was really a mixture of all kinds of people. from the real elites to conios to average to quite unfortunate. they were all there, each with certain level of conviction that they would bring home the golden pass.
most knows how to sing. many have voice. only a few have the voice.
yes, i was there and i saw it all. i even felt the agitation of people, the excitement to enter the vicinity, the surge of nervousness and panic, the sadness of the unfortunates and the happiness from making acceptable performances. i was there and i saw it all.
no! i wasn’t one of them. i felt it, i saw it, i know it because supportive friend that i am, i went for a friend.
sadly, that friend didn’t make it. but in all the fairness in the world, the judge said confidence was the only lacking thing in the performance. the voice was almost perfect but connection with the audience and self-expression were vital. they were so vital that lacking it even when you have a great voice still means rejection. and rejected that friend of mine was.
rejected but not unhappy. before going out of the audition room, a promise between the aspirant and the voice coach was made. “see you next year, coach.”
and next year you’ll try again. and as always, i will be there for you even if i have exam the following day and the audition place is too far for my liking. we’ll be there. and finally, you will bag that golden pass to dream recognition and stardom.
